Scottish Government Debate
Nicola Sturgeon S5M-16107 – EU Withdrawal Negotiations
That the Parliament reiterates its opposition to the damaging EU exit deal agreed by the UK Government; agrees that a no deal outcome to the current negotiations on EU withdrawal would be completely unacceptable on 29 March 2019 or at any time; calls on the UK Government to take immediate steps to prevent the UK leaving the EU without a deal, and agrees that the Article 50 process should be extended so that agreement can be reached on the best way forward to protect the interests of Scotland, Wales and the UK as a whole.
Jackson Carlaw S5M-16107.1 – EU Withdrawal Negotiations
As an amendment to motion S5M-16107 in the name of Nicola Sturgeon (EU Withdrawal Negotiations), leave out from “reiterates” to end and insert “respects the results of constitutional referendums; supports leaving the EU with a deal; notes that a no deal outcome will happen by the automatic operation of the law unless an agreement is reached; further notes that this would still be the case after an extension to Article 50, and believes that the Scottish Government is no longer acting in good faith for the people of Scotland.”
