Robert Burns – A Celebration, a Burns Supper and entertainment hosted by Govan SNP in the Go Glasgow Urban Hotel in Glasgow.
Govan SNP Chairman, Hamish McPherson compères an evening of entertainment commemorating the life and work of Scotland’s National Bard, Robert Burns.
The entertainment includes Ryan Burns singing My Love is Like a Red Red Rose and music from Belfast singer/songwriter, Aislinn Logan. Joanne Gallagher gives a joyful rendition of Liz Lockhead’s poem ‘Frae a Moose’, and Craig Munro performs ‘Holy Willie’s Prayer.
Dave Anderson delivers an Address to the Haggis full of energy and humour. The Toast to the Lassies by Iain Robertson receives a hilarious reply from Joyce Falconer, full of North-East passion and wit. The Immortal Memory by Peter Arnott is both academic and entertaining in its examination of the poet’s life, punctuated by Frances Thorburn’s beautiful singing.
Guest of Honour, First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon’s address is full of insight and humour as she responds to the evening’s proceeding and talks about her vision for post Brexit Scotland.
